Small

Intro

Muted piano, breath close to the mic

Verse 1

I laugh a little quieter when you're in the roomI order what you order so I don't hold you upI shrink my sentences down to fit between your wordsAnd say "no, it's fine" before you even ask

Pre-Chorus

And you never asked me toI just thought you'd like me betterFolded up

Chorus

I make myself smallSo I don't take up your roomI fold up like a letterYou're never gonna openI make myself smallTill I'm hardly here at allAnd you still look right through meLike I'm not small enough

Verse 2

My mom says I used to sing in the carLoud as the radio, wrong words and allNow I mouth along like I'm scared of the soundLike someone's gonna hear me and turn it down

Pre-Chorus

And you never asked me toI just thought you'd like me betterFolded up

Chorus

I make myself smallSo I don't take up your roomI fold up like a letterYou're never gonna openI make myself smallTill I'm hardly here at allAnd you still look right through meLike I'm not small enough

Bridge

Everything drops to sub bass and whisper, then builds

What if I unfoldWhat if I take the whole bedWhat if I sing it wrongAnd sing it loud instead

Final Chorus

Guitars swell, voice breaking open

I made myself smallSo I wouldn't take your roomI folded like a letterNow I'm tearing it openI made myself smallNow I'm taking up the hallAnd if you can't see me nowYou were never gonna see me at all

Outro
