Nobody Came

Verse 1

Fingerpicked guitar and voice

Wednesday at the registryYou wore your sister's wedding shoesWe needed two witnessesSo we asked the couple after usAnd they cried more than we did

Pre-Chorus

No band, no dress, no cakeJust the bus home in the rain

Chorus

Nobody came to see itTwo strangers and the pouring rainBest day of my whole lifeNobody came to see it

Verse 2

Piano enters

Your mum still hasn't forgiven usThe only photos came out blurryThe paper's in a kitchen drawerThe rings cost less than your shoes

Pre-Chorus

No band, no dress, no cakeJust the bus home in the rain

Chorus

Nobody came to see itTwo strangers and the pouring rainBest day of my whole lifeNobody came to see it

Bridge

Strings rise, voice opening up

Let them have their castles and their bandsI had you soaking wet beside me

Final Chorus

Full band, gritty soaring belt

Nobody came to see itTwo strangers and the pouring rainBest day of my whole lifeNobody came to see itNobody came to see itTwo strangers and the pouring rainBest day of our whole lifeNobody came to see it
