Keys on the Counter

You didn't slam the door, loveYou didn't even cry at allYou just set your keys down gentlyLike you didn't want to wake meI was already awake, love

Of all the ways to say goodbyeThat little sound was the loudest

Just your keys on the counterYour coat gone from the hookNothing left to argue withJust your keys on the counter

Come back and pick them upOr come back and stay

Just your keys on the counterYour coat gone from the hookNothing left to argue withJust your keys on the counterJust your keys on the counterYour coat gone from the hookNothing left to argue withJust my keys on the counter
