Follow Your Lantern

Verse 1

Fingerpicked guitar and voice

Past the last farm on the bog roadA light goes walking every nightThe old men always say don't followIt's only marsh fire and a lieBut it waits for me to come

Pre-Chorus

And every step is softer groundAnd every breath is cold and sweet

Chorus

I'll follow your lanternOver the reed and the mireDown where the water is waitingI'll follow your lantern

Verse 2

My boots are full of water nowThe village lights are far behindYou turn and you're a girl of smokeYou smile like you've known me long

Pre-Chorus

And every step is softer groundAnd every breath is cold and sweet

Chorus

Upright bass, brushes and cello enter

I'll follow your lanternOver the reed and the mireDown where the water is waitingI'll follow your lantern

Bridge

Soft falsetto

Let them drag the pond for meI'll be dancing under it

Final Chorus

The band swelling gently

I'll follow your lanternOver the reed and the mireDown where the water is waitingI'll follow your lanternI'll follow your lanternOver the reed and the mireDown where the water is wakingI'll follow your lantern
